Solitude 's
Shadow
Take a quiet whistle to a quiet place.
Sweet and tender tones flow out to touch cathedral towers not loud enough to
echo back...
but soft refrains
Like gentle breezes brushing back
the ruffled hair...ruffled by the frantic pace of a world
that's turning way too fast.
"You
need a different kind of breath control..."
"You don't blow...you just sort of
breath into it"
" You can play at midnight and not
disturb a soul."
"...definitely not for
sessions."
Mack's whistles have a low wind requirement, and are
quieter than most whistles, making them suitable for late night practicing
or other situations where a quiet whistle is desired. They have a sweet
tone with very little chiff. He uses brass mostly, but can use other
materials if asked. The fipple is made of Corian, a marble like material that
polishes to a luster that enhances the high polish of the brass.
I designed my
signature whistle sound so it wouldn't be like the somewhat harsh tones of my
Generation
D,
but more like the sweet sound of my bamboo whistle from Tibet. I
figured that there would be a place for a quiet whistle in the collections of
enough players to make it worth the design. Thanks to all who have proved
this to be true.
